Entry from: Monterosso, Italy Entry Title: "A Day on the Beach" Entry: "Sunny and 32°C Up at 07h00, out and about for me at 07h30 to take photos in the morning light and to write postcards while sipping cappuccino at a small cafe. At 08h30 I hit the tiny grocery shop to purchase breakfast and fresh lunch supplies. We ate together on the terrace overlooking the town as it came to life. Then it was off to the beach for the day. We rented 4 reclining chairs with 2 large umbrellas for 40 euro and settled in. Multiple swims interspersed a day of writing postcards and getting caught up on my journal. The water is crystal clear blue and just the right temperature. It is a joy to float in its buoyancy. The people range in age from 4 to 74 in all shapes and sizes, mostly wearing skimpy bathing attire. I think tonight we will have fresh pasta and a local sauce cooked at Manuel's, followed by wine and desert on our balcony. But not before I go for one last swim. Manuel is in his mid-sixties and is retired from running the Casa. Instead, his nephew Lorenzo is in charge. He is in is early 20's, speaks good English and has a very kind demeanour. Manuel, by comparison, is a little more gruff but kindly nonetheless. He and his two dogs (Chico and Nui) live a peaceful existence, puttering around the place. He ...
